MPS Solar Safety Stick

SARATOGA SPRINGS — It stands 41 1/2 inches tall, weighs 37 pounds and will be watching and taking note of where you park your car.

The city of Saratoga Springs is preparing to roll out a pilot program using sidewalk-planted devices charged with monitoring vehicle occupancy trends in dangerous or illegal locations. For the time being, the program using the MPS Solar Safety Stick will operate as a test project, but is equipped — when permitted by the state — to initiate a process that will enforce violations of illegal parking and result in vehicle owners receiving tickets via the mail.
